Ways to eat less…
1. Eat more protein. It keeps you full and stops cravings. 2. Avoid artificial sweeteners (and sugar) Anything sweet-even if it’s not real sugar- can trigger an addictive response and cause cravings. I hate artificial sweeteners like aspartame, because they are a big lie and cause just as many health problems as sugar.
2. Focus on the big stuff first. Going cold turkey can be overwhelming so start by tackling the food category you crave first example if cake is your weakness try eliminating grain-based dessert first. I love ice cream. So I cannot have it in my house. When we do occasionally have it I have to buy myself one little pint…So when it’s gone it’s gone.
3. Use mindfulness, which means pause and consider the situation from an outside perspective when cravings or Temptations hit. Unconscious eating happens. I have found myself with a sweet treat or a bag of chips in my hand without even knowing I grabbed it after getting off the phone with a negative person. We all Have to pay attention.
4. Be Patient with your taste buds. It can take 3 to 4 weeks to stop sugar cravings so hang in there. I’ve been waiting 40+ years but I’m going to be patient.
